Emergency services arrive at the Jazira hotel in the Somali capital after three bombs exploded. The first two bombs came in quick succession and were followed by heavy bursts of gunfire by Somali security forces. The third blast occurred about an hour later when a bomb went off inside a car being searched by the military. Ambulance services said at least 11 people were killed in the attack. The hotel was one of the securest places in Mogadishu frequented by politicians and foreigners, underscoring the major security challenges facing the government. There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the Islamist rebel group al Shabaab has carried out a campaign of attacks over the past two and a half years in Somalia
