One Direction have seen their album Midnight Memories become the biggest selling of 2013 in the UK. The album achieved the honor in double quick time, racking up almost 700,000 sales in just five weeks. The band's album shot ahead of Emeli Sande's record-breaking debut album, Our Version of Events, in the last week of the year. Meanwhile, on the singles front, the year belonged to musician Pharrell Williams. He co-wrote and sang on the year's two biggest hits in the UK - Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines and Get Lucky by Daft Punk - which spent five and four weeks at number one respectively. Once thought to be dead as a format, vinyl continues to grow at a remarkable rate, with sales of LP albums up 270 percent from five years ago. Arctic Monkeys topped the vinyl charts with AM in 2013, as well as being the most streamed artists.
