Tens of thousands of Thai anti-government demonstrators have gathered for a mass rally in Bangkok. They want to bring down the government of caretaker prime minister Yingluk Shinawatra, who they believe is corrupt.Shinawatra says the protesters should accept her government until fresh elections are held on February 2.“The government has done everything including reform and House dissolution. Staying in office does not mean clinging to it, but it’s our duty to ensure that the election takes place,” Shinawatra told reporters in the northeastern province of Udon Thani.Protest leader Suthep Thagusban has called for a boycott of the election if Shinawatra stays in power.Thagusban’s supporters lined the streets of the Thai capital, many of them handing him fistfuls of cash to support the opposition movement.
