Louis XIV,popularly known as the Sun King,was without a doubt the most glorious of French sovereigns. His reign,from 1643 to his death in 1715,lasted more than 72 years. That is the longest documented reign of any European monarch. A new exhibition reveals a little-known side of the personality behind his shining exterior. Louis XIV: Man and King is on at his beloved Palace of Versailles until February 7th.
