Caliming that 'political instability' was prevailing in Karnataka with ruling BJP hit by a spate of corruption charges, opposition Congress today resolved to gear for a possible mid-term assembly elections. "Political instability is written on the wall with the BJP Government facing a barrage of charges of corruption, misrule, and misadministration," KPCC President G Parameshwara told reporters after a meeting of senior party leaders, including union ministers from the state, held at a private resort here. He noted that former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, who led BJP to form its first ever government in the south after 2008 assembly polls, and his former ministerial colleagues were in jails and FIRs being lodged against some of the Ministers in the DV Sadananda Gowda Cabinet and legislators. The meeting took stock of the political situation in the state, preparedness of the party in case a mid-term polls and strengthening the party to face the challenges before it. "It was unanimous opinion of the party leaders that we must sort out our internal differences, prepare ourselves and work unitedly to face the challenge of the mid-term polls, if it is held, in the wake of political instability in the state," Parameshwara said.
