True confessions...The first time I saw hermit crabs it was at the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal pool, late at night after a bit of too much celebrating. I was making my way back to the villa when 'rocks' started moving around me. Tequila delirium...It was hermit crabs all over the place. Since then we have seen them all around the Caribbean in a variety of different sizes, some can be quite large. Hermit crabs are decapod crustaceans of the superfamily Paguroidea. Most of the 1100 species possess an asymmetrical abdomen which is concealed in an empty gastropod shell that is carried around by the hermit crab. music by Butterfly Tea 03 - Back to Adventure
