Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh yesterday spoke to the Bangladesh Prime Minister Ms. Sheikh Hasina to express that India bounded the highest importance to the bilateral relations. Dr. Manmofan Singh said that a strong partnership between the two neighbouring countries was in the interest of the people of both India and Bangladesh and also for the whole of South Asia.

Dr. Singh’s call to Ms. Hasina came soon after the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna announced that he would be travelling to Bangladesh to review the whole ambit of the relationship between the two neighbours during his July 6-8 visit ahead of Dr. Manmohan Singh’s official visit in this September.

During his conversation, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that he looked forward to the September 6-7 visit and Ms. Sheikh Hasina responded that the people of Bangladesh were eagerly looking his visit and had high anticipations that it would be a historic one.
