Fragmenta, a series of experimental audiovisual piece, stems from research on integrating sound and motion graphics based on "organic binding." Connecting perceptual audio features to various motion graphic generators, the system offers audiovisual experience with natural and gradual sensation. The main goal of this project is to take advantage of countless possibility in particle systems to create musical expressiveness. Due to the parametric flexibility of them, it is inevitably important to make parameters more meaningful rather than simple ones such as amplitude or frequency. Thus, the system is designed to extract basic audio features (spectrum flux, centroid, RMS level and stereo image) from incoming audio stream and use them to make the final imagery more corresponding to sound.2009 Hongchan Choi
